Urban Planning Documents

There are several plans and policies which the City of Newcastle uses when making decisions on future development. Some prepared by the NSW State Government can be viewed online.

Local Environmental Plans (LEP)

The Local Environmental Plan is a legal document that provides rules and guidelines to control the use of private and public land through zoning.

Development Control Plan and Technical Manuals

The Development Control Plan (DCP) contains detailed planning and design guidelines to support the provisions in the Local Environmental Plan.

Contribution Plans and Planning Agreements

Under the EP&A Act, City of Newcastle can obtain local contributions as a means of funding local infrastructure required as a result of the new development.
