The notification/exhibition process for development applications is in accordance with City of Newcastle’s (CN), Community Participation Plan (CPP), acknowledging that recent State legislation has altered the requirements in relation to newspaper advertisements.
In recognition of this legislative change, all applicable advertisements (designated development, nominated integrated development, threatened species development, Class 1 aquaculture development or Demolition in Heritage Conservation Area) are now published on our Public Notices webpage.
Other forms of notifications may include the written notification of residents and owners of potentially effected properties and the placement of signs on properties where the development is to occur.
Extended exhibition for the holiday period
In accordance with the CPP, notification periods are extended to allow for the holiday period. The period between 20 December and 10 January (inclusive) is excluded from the calculation of a period of public exhibition.
