All native species are protected by law in NSW. Council Rangers do not investigate or collect native animals or wildlife. Issues concerning native animals and wildlife should be directed to a specialist organisations such as Hunter Wildlife - Native Animal Trust Fund who provide rescue and care for native animals. If you have found a sick, injured or orphaned native animal this can be reported by calling 24 Hour Emergency Rescue Hotline - 0418 628 483
The NSW Office of Enviroment and Heritage provide a list of native wildlife and protected species. Advice on what can be done in cases where a native animal is causing damage to your property is available from their webpage.
Hunter Local Land Services can provide advice and assistance in the eradicating of declared pest species including wild dogs, rabbits and foxes (european red).
